Health data fragmentation is an emerging problem in the modern healthcare world, with arguably one of the largest direct impacts on the lives of everyday people. We propose a multi-layered medical wallet solution, based on Blockchain technology. This system provides user access and mediation of their medical data. This will solve the current health data and inaccessibility problem, leveraging the possibility to analyse medical data on large scales, while giving patients the ability to control their own data. Their ability to grant and withdraw data access to medical doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical research institutions or even other patients on different levels of aggregation pushes a massive increase in data privacy and security but also allows for wider analysis solutions.
Mobile applications that integrate layers of Blockchain-based wallets with different levels of data aggregation as well as functionalities.
Patients can directly and anonymously interact with other patients on the basis of aggregated as well as verified data to establish the needed trust to discuss individual experiences that forums can’t.
Our layered wallets allow for various interactions with medical doctors, institutions and corporations that require user acceptances. This removes the intermediary for such interactions and lets the patient profit directly.
The entire system is based on the Blockchain Intelligence Framework by XAIN that applies reinforcement learning to secure and stabilise a distributed and permissioned Blockchain network, involving processes of legal entities.
Medixain is a cross industry and science project initiated as a subsidiary of XAIN and the Big Data Institute at the University of Oxford to establish a personalized data framework for medical data. As such, it contributes not only scientifically but also on the engineering side with radical new storage and analysis opportunities to leverage medical advances. XAIN itself has been established in London based on AI and Blockchain doctoral research projects of the founding team at Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. The focus of XAIN lies upon the development of automated applications for highly sensible data based on our Blockchain Intelligence Framework.
Leif-Nissen Lundbæk founded the XAIN AG as a resulting startup of his Governed Blockchain based research of his PhD thesis at Imperial College London and his Master project at University of Oxford. His work focuses mainly on the trusted computing and security gains of Blockchains in a governed manner in industry, particularly for financial services. Previously, he worked as an Analytics Engineer at Mercedes-Benz and as an Optimization Engineer for IBM as well as the Italian UniCredit Bank. He has received an M.Sc. in Software Engineering at The University of Oxford with distinction as well as an M.Sc. in Mathematics at Heidelberg University, magna cum laude.
Felix Hahmann has started his career in the IT of E.ON, the largest German energy producer. As such, he continued his career as a Software Engineer in Data Analytics (specifically Data quality) at Mercedes-Benz, while graduating in Computer Science. Further, he led various startup projects where he received first experience in Blockchain technology and, thus, co-founded the XAIN AG as a member of the Executive Board and as the Chief Information Officer as well as the Chief Human Resource Officer.
Michael Huth is a Professor of Computer Science at Imperial College London. His main interest lies on application-driven research in Cybersecurity, Mathematical Modeling, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. As such, he develops and formally verifies methods of the interaction of machines that understand human behavior and their security implications. Further, he focuses on Blockchain technology for trust infrastructures whereby he developed Governed Blockchains together with Leif-Nissen Lundbæk.
Amin El-Kutbi is a medical doctor and studied physician from the Universities of Heidelberg, Paris and Oxford. He is a serial entrepreneur, his latest exit having been in 2017. Amin has acted as CEO with his main responsibilities being reaching KPI milestones for annual financing rounds, preparing annual budget and forecasts, hiring and securing an efficient working atmosphere for a distributed team, managing payroll for the company’s employees and freelancers, controlling seven digit overheads per year, planning and executing distribution and paving the way for strategic partnerships with MNEs.
Simon Schwerin advises XAIN as a Business Development Manager, after he wrote his Master Thesis about Blockchains and Privacy, specifically concerning the GDPR. He now focuses his work on leading medixain as a CEO to build a solution in the Healthcare and Blockchain sector.
He has received an M.Sc. in Business Intelligence and Process Management, after studying International Business in his undergrads. Previously he worked for the Blockchain Start-up BigchainDB on the business strategy and project management side. Formerly, he gathered working experience in the financial, healthcare and IT-consulting sector.
Simon focuses on developing valid business models for blockchain use cases, while keeping privacy by design and regulations in mind. He led the working groups on identity and standardization within the public German blockchain lobby group „Bundesblock“ (Bundesverband Blockchain).
Daanyaal Walayat is responsible for the Business Development of Bioloq. He studied Engineering management at TU Kaiserslautern and HTW Berlin.
Daanyaal worked for a well known reputable mobility Start-Up from Berlin and also runs his own e-commerce business since 2010. The fasciation for Blockchain started with his interest in the cryptocurrency Bitcoin in late 2013. Besides experience in mining of multiple cryptocurrencies he also actively follows ICO and crypto related news in his spare time.
